South Pacific Defence Ministers Plan: Expanding Military Role in the Region
The Pacific Military Alliance excludes the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Samoa. A Colonial Legacy.
The Pacific Military Alliance is a Military Alliance for French, and British Colonial Spheres of Influence, precluding former German Colonies like the Solomon Islands and Samoa and the former French Colony of New Hebrides, Vanuatu, from having a military branch of Government.
The SPDMM military Alliance would be considered as the Pacific Island version of AUKUS, aimed at consolidating the AUKUS and French, albeit post-colonial Spheres of influence within the Pacific Region and, more importantly, as a response to the ineluctable rise of an expansive Chinese Sphere of Influence and more particularly the nascent Blue Water Navy.
The Pacific Alliance Military Branches of Government include Colonial France, (New Caledonia and French Polynesia, including Tahiti), Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Papua New Guinea. More broadly, the longer reach for the Pacific Military Alliance should also invite apart from Chille other South American Countries such as Peru, Equator, and Colombia. Broadly speaking, the Pacific region would also include the Philippines, Russia and China as well. But, considering that Russia and China are considered the pacing rivals for the hitherto Anglo-French Colonial sphere of influence within the Pacific Rim, it would be discouraged by the AUKUS and NATO members of the Pacific Alliance.
Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Samoa.
The non-military South Pacific Nations that are permanently precluded from this Pacific Region Military Defense Alliance, include the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Samoa. Such a military oversight would undermine the accessibility for Pacific Island Nations such as the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Samoa from important military related issues of State apart from regional Policing matters of State. In the event of a regional allied conflict skirmishes should arise, undoubtedly, from time to time, Pacific Island Nations such as the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Samoa are EXCLUDED from the Regional military and National Security Strategic Matters.
CHINA and RUSSIA
Geo-Politically and Geo-Strategically, the Pacific Regional Military Partnership will attempt to envelop the entire Pacific Ocean as an anti-Sino and presumably a Russophobic Regional Sphere. However, unlike the Pacific reticent Russians, the Chinese embedded a foothold with Chinese Aid and especially with Chinese commercial enterprises through Trading Posts during the Colonial period throughout the Pacific Islands. More recently, the Chinese Belt and Road Initiatives, via public and private infrastructural developments for many Pacific Island Nations have allowed the Sino Sphere of influence within the Pacific Island Nations very embedded and crucial. On a cultural level, the Anglocentric cultural influence within the Pacific Island communities has imbued a particular Anglocentric Sino Cringe, in particular within the Anglocentric Military circles that has been understood as the apparent Anglocentric and culturally racist Sino phobic Pacific Military Alliance, spearheaded by the Francophiles and Anglocentric Australians, New Zealanders, New Caledonians, and Tahitians. Spearheading this Sinosphere cringe pivot are the British, French and Americans under the umbrella of AUKUS and with the French within the Eurocentric NATO.
The former German Colonies of the Solomon Islands and Samoa were excluded from institutionalising a military branch of Government, unlike the Kingdom of Tonga, a much smaller populated Pacific Island Nation with a robust military presence, if only in appearance rather than in actual military impact in present day military potential compared to peer Pacific Island Nations like the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and especially the traditional adversary Island Nation of Samoa. Perhaps the most military potency potential for the Kingdom of Tonga against Samoa would be militarily engaged on the Rugby field and in the boxing ring in any combative lethality potential against the Samoan Nation today.
In Conclusion
The preclusion of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Samoa has opened the pathway for the Chinese and even in the not-too-distant future Russia, are able to engage politically and diplomatically in a non-military transaction for closer regional ties precluding the present MILITARY alliances, albeit, the paternalism of the Pacific Response Group, for humanitarian aid, with the regional Paternalism of USA, France, Australia and New Zealand, patronising the Solomon Island Nation, Vanuatu and for my sake, Samoa.
