The Al Qaeda were mostly made up of Sunni Islamic Jihadists from the Saudi Arabian Wahabbi Salafists Fedayeen Fighters who boarded planes and ploughed into the Pentagon, and the World Trade Centre.
The Al Qaeda were a Sunni Umma Islamic Jihadist movement that morphed from the Muslim Brotherhood, from Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which included franchises within Somalia, Eriteria, South Sudan, and would become ISIS from the disaffected and scattered Sunni elements of the Iraqi Army under the Saddam Hussein Baathist regime, then within Raqqah within the Rojava region of Northern Syria they declared a Sunni Caliphate, the Islamic State and Levant or ISAL, which was forced out to Idlib by the Syrian Army, which is Shia dominated, with the support of Shia Hezbollah Forces from Iran and certain Shia elements from Lebanon, and Syria, which included the Assad Shia faction the Alawites, strongly supported by the Druze Syrians.
The Kurds formed the Syrian Democratic Army, the SDA, became the third element, to confront both the ISAL and the Assad Syrian Army. The Kurds forces were centred in Southern Turkey, Rojava, North Syria, and Iraqi Kurdistan, which represented a significant third adversary within the Levant region.
Paradoxically, with the strong influence of the Sunni backed Erdogan AK Party, the NATO member Nations would end up supporting the ISAL Sunni Caliphate, after removing their former leader Al Baghdadi within Idlib, within Aleppo in 2019.
The current leader of the ISAL morphed into the Syrian Rebel Army who toppled the Assad regime, forcing the Shia Assad regime to Russia in 2025, with the help of the Turkish Army and the Biden Regime ordering the USAF A 10 Warthogs straffing sorties to destroy the Hezbollah and Shia support elements from Iran and Iraq respectively. The Shia Syrian Government would be destroyed and removed and the subsequent sectarian culling continues since January 2025.
Now, on May 14th, 2025. POTUS Trump meets with the current Syrian Sunni Caliphate ISAL Leader and now after the Sunni initiated Coup d'etat, the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, standing next to the Saudi Arabian PM. Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Paradox of this photo opportunity since September 11, 2001, comes full circle whereby with a relabelling you can mainstream the Sunni Islamic Jihadism from the Muslim Brotherhood, to the Al Qaeda network, to ISIS, to ISAL, to the Syrian Rebel Army, to the current normal Syrian Sunni Government today.
